Enforcing Modern Encryption: The Move to TLS 1.2+
Microsoft has officially retired support for legacy TLS 1.0 and 1.1 protocols across all Azure Storage accounts. This transition is a critical step in enhancing data security for enterprise customers, as older versions of Transport Layer Security are susceptible to several well-known vulnerabilities. Starting today, all connections to Azure Storage must utilize a minimum of TLS 1.2, ensuring that data in transit remains protected by modern cryptographic standards.
Administrators are urged to audit their client applications and legacy systems to prevent service interruptions. For those updating their cloud security architectures, our Data Masking Tool offers an additional layer of protection by ensuring sensitive data is never exposed during connection testing and protocol migration.
