Claude’s voice mode is now available for Opus and Sonnet

**Anthropic** has expanded **Claude voice mode** beyond **Haiku**. Users can now run voice conversations on **Opus** and **Sonnet**, the company’s stronger models, after a period when voice was limited to the faster, lighter Haiku tier.

The product change is twofold. First, voice sessions can use the higher-capability models instead of being pinned to Haiku. Second, voice reach extends into third-party apps, including **Gmail**, **Slack**, and **Canva**, so spoken interaction is no longer confined to Claude’s own surface.

For builders and engineers, that matters because voice stops being a demo path on a small model. Workflows that need reasoning, longer context, or multi-step drafting can stay in voice on Opus or Sonnet, and the same mode can sit next to mail, chat, and design tools rather than only the chat UI.

Competitively, this puts Claude’s voice offering closer to other assistants that already mix speech with capable models and workplace apps. Haiku-only voice left a clear gap: low latency, weaker depth. Opening Opus and Sonnet closes that gap and makes Anthropic’s stack more usable where people already work—Gmail, Slack, Canva—rather than only inside Claude itself.

Watch how teams actually route tasks: Haiku for quick, low-stakes voice, Sonnet or Opus when the conversation needs real analysis or production-quality output. Also watch whether app integrations become the main habit surface for voice, or stay secondary to the core Claude client.
