How to Install / Upgrade: Elastic 9.5: Columnar, VectorDB index mode & auto-calibration, and AI-driven alert triage

Elastic 9.5 is now generally available as the latest version of the Elasticsearch Platform. This release brings Columnar Mode, VectorDB index mode with auto-calibration, AI-driven alert triage, and Agent Builder enhancements.

Plan an upgrade or install to Elastic 9.5 after reading the Elastic Blog announcement for this release. Back up your cluster and configuration first, then install or upgrade to Elastic 9.5 through your normal package, container, or orchestrated deployment path. Bring nodes back into service in a controlled order so the cluster can rejoin cleanly, and only then enable or exercise the new capabilities you need, such as Columnar Mode, VectorDB index mode, or the Agent Builder updates.

Confirm you are actually running Elastic 9.5 before treating any of the new features as available. After the upgrade, verify cluster health and that searches and indexing still work as before, then check that Columnar Mode, VectorDB index mode with auto-calibration, AI-driven alert triage, and Agent Builder enhancements behave as described in the release material. Do not assume defaults or capacity for the new modes without validating them in a non-production environment first, and keep your pre-upgrade backup until those checks pass.
