To start using it, open GitHub Copilot where you already work (in the editor or on GitHub) and choose Gemini 3.6 Flash from the available models once it appears in your account. If you do not see it yet, keep Copilot and your client up to date and check again, because the model is rolling out rather than flipping on for everyone at once. No separate install package is required beyond access to GitHub Copilot with model selection enabled for your plan.

Because this is a rollout, some users may not have Gemini 3.6 Flash immediately, and configurable settings may differ by product surface. Confirm the model name shows as Gemini 3.6 Flash in Copilot’s model picker, then run a short coding or agentic task in a web or app project and check that responses come from that model. If the option is missing, wait for the rollout to reach your account or confirm that your Copilot access includes multi-model selection.
