How to Install / Upgrade: Laguna S 2.1 is now available on AI Gateway

Laguna S 2.1 from Poolside is now available on AI Gateway. It is an open-weight Mixture-of-Experts model with a context window of up to 1M tokens and it runs in thinking and no-thinking modes. Two versions are offered: the free model id poolside/laguna-s-2.1-free, and the paid model id poolside/laguna-s-2.1 for higher throughput and higher rate limits.

To install or upgrade, point your AI Gateway requests at one of those model ids. Use poolside/laguna-s-2.1-free if you want the free tier. Switch to poolside/laguna-s-2.1 if you need higher throughput and higher rate limits. Keep the rest of your AI Gateway setup the same and only change the model string to the Laguna S 2.1 id you choose.

Watch for the free versus paid split: the free and paid models are different ids, so pick poolside/laguna-s-2.1-free or poolside/laguna-s-2.1 deliberately rather than assuming one covers both. Confirm the model accepts your call through AI Gateway, that the context window works up to the 1M-token limit you need, and that thinking or no-thinking behavior matches what you selected. If throughput or rate limits are the issue, verify you are on poolside/laguna-s-2.1 and not the free id.
