To update your software, obtain and run the installer for 7-Zip version 26.02 on your machine. Upgrade any existing installation of 7-Zip to version 26.02 so that opening compressed archives is no longer exposed to this vulnerability.
The primary gotcha is opening untrusted compressed files before applying the patch, as older versions remain vulnerable to code execution. Verify your installation by checking your system software details to confirm that the installed version of 7-Zip is 26.02.
