**CNCF**’s Technical Oversight Committee (**TOC**) has voted to accept **Kubernetes Global Balancer** (**K8gb**) as a **CNCF incubating project**. The move formalizes **K8gb**’s place in the foundation’s project ladder after it was developed as an open source, cloud native **Global Server Load Balancing** (**GSLB**) solution aimed at Kubernetes environments.
**K8gb** implements **GSLB** for multi-cluster and multi-region Kubernetes deployments: it steers client traffic across clusters rather than only balancing inside a single cluster. As a cloud native design, it is meant to run with Kubernetes control-plane and DNS-oriented patterns instead of bolting a traditional appliance **GSLB** onto the edge. The product mechanics matter for operators who need failover and geo-aware routing expressed as cluster-native configuration rather than a separate black-box load balancer.
