OpenAI launches small business program as it touts 10M ChatGPT Work and Codex users

**OpenAI** has launched the **ChatGPT for small business** program and, in the same push, said it now has **10 million** users across **ChatGPT Work** and **Codex**. The pairing is deliberate: a go-to-market offer aimed at smaller firms, next to a scale claim for two products that sit outside pure consumer chat—workplace ChatGPT and coding-focused Codex.

**ChatGPT Work** is the business-facing ChatGPT path; **Codex** is the coding product. OpenAI is counting both under one **10M** figure rather than breaking them out. That bundling treats workplace assistants and developer tools as one commercial surface. The **ChatGPT for small business** program is the packaging for SMBs: same core stack, framed for orgs that are not large enterprise buyers.

For builders, the **10M** claim on Work plus Codex is a demand signal for paid, non-consumer usage—teams that need policy controls, shared context, and coding help, not free chat. Small-business programs usually mean simpler signup, lighter sales, and pricing or packaging that does not require an enterprise deal.
