Stellantis Partners with Mobileye for Hands-Free Driving

Automotive conglomerate Stellantis has announced a strategic partnership with autonomous driving tech provider Mobileye. Under the agreement, Stellantis will deploy Mobileye's 'SuperVision' hands-free driver-assist system across its global portfolio of vehicle brands, including Jeep, Ram, Dodge, Peugeot, and Fiat, starting with next-generation platforms.

The SuperVision platform utilize a suite of high-resolution cameras and custom processing chips to enable eyes-on, hands-free highway driving, automated lane changes, and point-to-point navigation. By partnering with Mobileye, Stellantis aims to accelerate its software-defined vehicle roadmap and close the technology gap with Tesla and legacy premium automakers.

Deploying Advanced Hands-Free Systems at Global Scale

The collaboration marks a major step in the standardization of Level 2+ driver assistance systems. Rather than restricting hands-free driving features to premium models, Stellantis plans to integrate the technology into mass-market SUVs and trucks, driving down the unit cost of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) through scale production.

Standardizing ADAS Technology Across Vehicle Classes

Automotive industry analysts predict that the partnership will strengthen Mobileye's position as a tier-1 supplier of autonomous driving solutions. As automakers face pressure to deploy driver monitoring systems and ADAS technologies, standardizing software-defined platforms provides a modular path to meet evolving vehicle safety standards.
