Stellantis taps Mobileye for hands-free driving assist

Stellantis will use technology from Intel’s Mobileye to power Level 2 hands-free driving features across its vehicle brands. The companies announced the deal on Tuesday. Starting in 2027, Stellantis will begin deploying Mobileye’s EyeQ system-on-a-chip and Mobileye’s Road Experience Management program, known as REM.
On the technical side, the stack pairs onboard silicon with a continuous map-and-scene data loop. EyeQ is the system-on-a-chip that runs the perception and assist workload in the vehicle. REM is a data crowdsourcing program that pulls real-time data from Mobileye-equipped vehicles, so map and road-context models can be updated from fleet experience rather than from one-time survey alone.

For engineers and builders, the choice is architectural, not only commercial. Level 2 hands-free assist depends on tightly coupled perception, localization, and policy software. By standardizing on EyeQ plus REM, Stellantis is aligning brands on a shared Mobileye compute and crowdsourced data path instead of leaving each marque to assemble a fully separate sensing and map stack.
In market terms, the deal puts Mobileye, Intel’s advanced driver-assistance unit, inside one of the industry’s largest multi-brand groups. Stellantis gains a supplier that already ships silicon and runs a live vehicle data program. Mobileye gains volume and geographic reach as those brands start rolling the features from 2027.
The practical watch item is execution from announcement to 2027 hardware programs: which Stellantis brands and models get EyeQ first, how deeply REM is wired into production validation and over-the-air map updates, and whether the shared stack becomes the default Level 2 hands-free path across the group rather than a limited pilot.
