X Rolls Out Video Editor to Stop Content Plagiarism

The tools allow creators to trim clips, overlay text, and add watermarks directly inside the app. X aims to incentivize original video uploads by tying monetization payouts to verified unique content.

The update comes as X faces criticism from content creators who complain that stolen, re-uploaded videos regularly outperform the original posts in algorithm feeds. The platform's new video matching system will automatically detect duplicate video uploads and redirect views and ad revenue to the original creator. The feature is currently rolling out to Premium subscribers.
