Cloudflare has introduced Kitesurf, a cloud-hosted browser built for AI agents rather than people. The product is aimed at developers who need browser automation as part of agent workflows, not at end users browsing the web.
Kitesurf runs as a hosted browser environment instead of a traditional desktop client. Cloudflare positions it against Chromium-style automation: for common automation tasks, the company says Kitesurf uses less computing power than Chromium. That lower resource cost is the core product claim—same class of browser work, less compute per run.

For engineers building browser-based AI agents, compute is a hard constraint. Agents that click, navigate, and scrape at scale burn CPU and memory quickly when each session is a full Chromium instance. A lighter, cloud-hosted browser designed for agents can cut the cost of those loops and make multi-step automation cheaper to run and easier to scale.
The launch sits in a growing stack for agent infrastructure: models plan actions, tools execute them, and the browser is often the bottleneck when the world is still mostly web UI. Cloudflare is offering that browser layer as a managed service, competing with self-hosted Chromium fleets and other cloud browser or automation platforms that target the same agent builders.
