Federal Cybersecurity Agencies Mandate Zero-Trust Identity Vaults for Infrastructure

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), alongside international partner agencies, has issued a binding operational directive mandating zero-trust identity vaults across all critical infrastructure sectors, including energy grids, water utilities, and telecom operators.

The directive requires organizations to isolate administrative credentials inside hardware-attested cryptographic vaults with continuous real-time identity verification. The mandate comes in response to sophisticated credential-harvesting campaigns targeting critical utility control networks.

Security compliance officers have 90 days to implement the zero-trust architecture, marking the strictest federal cybersecurity standard enacted to date.
