Google has officially pivoted Android from a traditional operating system to a proactive intelligence system. Unveiled at the "Android Show," Gemini Intelligence is the new system-level layer that enables agentic workflows across all apps.
Unlike previous AI assistants, Gemini Intelligence can execute multi-step tasks without user intervention. For example, it can "Book a flight for my next business trip, find a hotel near the venue, and add the itinerary to my calendar" by interacting directly with app APIs and UI elements.
Google also teased Googlebook, a new category of laptops designed for this agentic era, and AR Smart Glasses that bring Gemini's vision capabilities to the real world. These devices represent the next step in Google's "AI-First" hardware roadmap.
