Google Chrome Integrates On-Device Neural Network for Zero-Day Phishing Detection

Google has begun rolling out an advanced security update for Chrome that embeds a lightweight, on-device neural network directly inside the browser engine. The local AI model scans webpage visual layouts, form inputs, and DOM structures in real time to block zero-day phishing attempts before credentials can be entered.

Unlike traditional blacklisting methods that rely on delayed cloud database syncs, Chrome's on-device model operates locally without sending user browsing histories to external servers. The system detects subtle visual spoofs of bank login pages and corporate portals in under 5 milliseconds.

Cybersecurity experts have praised the privacy-preserving design, noting that client-side machine learning is becoming essential to counter AI-generated phishing sites that mutate URLs continuously.
