Meta has launched a comprehensive enforcement initiative across Instagram aimed at identifying and restricting synthetic accounts that impersonate real humans without explicit AI disclosure labels.

The platform updated its community guidelines to mandate that any account utilizing AI-generated avatars, photorealistic synthetic faces, or automated conversational persona models must display prominent transparency badges.

Accounts found violating the policies by deliberately deceptive engagement, automated direct messaging campaigns, or deepfake identity creation face immediate suspension and permanent removal.

The policy shift comes in response to user complaints and regulatory pressure regarding the rapid proliferation of synthetic influencer networks monetizing undisclosed automated sponsorship deals.
