Meta's Instagram has introduced a major update for video creators with the launch of 'First Draft,' an AI-assisted video editing feature integrated directly into the Reels creation camera. The tool automatically analyzes raw camera roll footage to identify key highlights, trim awkward pauses, and generate synchronized cut sequences in under 10 seconds.

By drastically reducing the friction involved in manual clip editing and audio alignment, Instagram hopes to boost creator publishing frequency and compete more aggressively with TikTok's established suite of automated editing tools.

Creators retain full manual control over recommended edits, allowing them to adjust pacing, apply filter presets, and modify auto-generated captions before publishing to public feeds.
