Meta Updates Ray-Ban AI Smart Glasses Firmware to Block Covert Recording

Meta has released a mandatory software update for its Ray-Ban Meta AI smart glasses aimed at addressing privacy and covert recording concerns. The update increases the minimum illumination intensity of the capture LED and uses light sensors to block camera operation if the indicator light is covered with tape or stickers.

The changes come as privacy regulators in the European Union and US evaluate bystander consent standards for AI-equipped wearable technology in public spaces.
