Meta has introduced hardware and software privacy protections for its AI smart glasses, disabling recording capabilities if the capture indicator LED is obstructed.

In response to growing public concern and societal pushback surrounding unobtrusive public recording, Meta is rolling out a critical hardware-software update for its Ray-Ban smart glasses. The new firmware automatically halts video recording if the frame's external LED indicator is covered or tampered with.

Alongside the technical fix, Meta is launching a global marketing push educating consumers on respectful wearable tech etiquette, aiming to repair the product's public perception.
