Meta VP Sandhya Devanathan Departs to Lead OpenAI's Asia-Pacific Expansion

In a significant high-level executive move, Sandhya Devanathan, Meta's Vice President for India and Southeast Asia, is leaving Meta to join OpenAI as Vice President of Asia-Pacific (APAC) Growth and Regional Operations.

Devanathan, who successfully spearheaded Meta's massive business expansion across commercial mobile and messaging ecosystems in South Asia, will oversee OpenAI's strategic footprint, enterprise partnerships, and government affairs across India, Singapore, Japan, and Australia.

Her appointment comes as OpenAI aggressively builds localized developer communities and expands its enterprise presence to compete directly with Google and regional AI providers across Asia.
