Nvidia Reportedly in Advanced Talks to Acquire Hugging Face for $13 Billion

Semiconductor giant Nvidia is reportedly in advanced discussions to acquire Hugging Face, the world's leading open-source artificial intelligence hub and model repository, in a deal valued at approximately $13 billion. The acquisition would represent one of the largest consolidations in the AI software and developer tooling industry to date.

Sources familiar with the negotiations indicate that Nvidia aims to deeply integrate Hugging Face's repository infrastructure, model optimization hub, and fine-tuning pipelines into its proprietary CUDA ecosystem and cloud microservice suite (NVIDIA NIM). The deal would allow developers to seamlessly train, deploy, and benchmark open-weights models directly on Nvidia accelerated cloud clusters.

If finalized, the transaction will solidify Nvidia's transition from a hardware silicon vendor into an end-to-end artificial intelligence platform provider, controlling both the underlying compute hardware and the primary distribution platform for global AI models.
