AI search engine company Perplexity has announced the official launch of its 'Deep Research API,' making its autonomous multi-step web crawling and document synthesis capabilities available to enterprise software developers.

Unlike basic single-prompt search APIs, the Deep Research API deploys autonomous reasoning agents that formulate sub-queries, parse thousands of academic papers and news sources, cross-verify facts, and output fully cited analytical reports.
